Ten Ways To Increase Light Through March's Windows

1. Lighten Up Your Own Mind

Mad as a March Hare' as they say. The expression has been with us since the sixteenth century. It was popularized in more recent times by the writer, Lewis Carroll in his now famous work 'Alice In Wonderland' of 1865. It refers of course to the wild antics of the hares as they compete for  mates in their breeding season. Mad March. Anything goes. Do something out of character.

2. Lighten and Brighten Up Your Winter Wardrobe

Put a spring in your own step as you stride out into spring!

On a rainy afternoon  spring clean your winter wardrobe and on a bright afternoon take your discarded items to a local charity and buy a bright new cardigan or jumper.

3. Light Up Your Father's Face

March is the month of St Joseph, patron saint of Fathers. What better time to give thanks for your own father- if your still lucky enough to have him with you! Clear out some time in your mad march schedule to spend some quality time together!

4. Light Up A Child's Eyes

Let's go fly a kite
Up to the highest height!
Let's go fly a kite and send it soaring
Up through the atmosphere
Up where the air is clear
Oh, let's go fly a kite!

Remember the first time you flew one? Remember how you competed with your siblings  and friends to fly the highest kite? Light up a child's day and harness the March breezes. Blow away your own winter cobwebs!

5. Lighten and Brighten Your Living Room

Spring is finally in the air so open the doors and windows, and out with the old and in with the new! Consider how you can bring in a bit of spring! Paint a wall yellow?  Buy some daffodils? Buy an olive or orange plant?

6.  Light Up Your Friday

It's Friday, its five o'clock and it's time for....Crackerjack- as all 70s British kids would say! Now you are an adult how much fun time do you have in your week?????

Well its March and a new springtime routine can come into play now the days are longer. Meeting a close friend every Friday to talk through the week somewhere beautiful?

7. Shed Some Fresh Light on Your Poetry Collection

'I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
     A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars That shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
    They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
      Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
      And dances with the daffodils.

8.  Bring Light Into Your Garden /Patio/Balcony

Sweeping up the old autumn leaves in your garden or patio is always a very therapeutic way of ridding yourself  of the  past.
Then take a well-deserved inspirational walk! Tread  on nature's yellow and green spring carpet. Be inspired to replace the dead leaves in your life with something fresh and vibrant!

9. Enlighten Yourself Musically

Start by going through your old music collection. Give away what you no longer like and choose some new releases or old classics you always meant to get online. listen to some music for spring!

Some good spring pieces could include Schumann's Symphony no.1, Vivaldi's Spring from his Four Seasons, Delius' On Hearing the First Cuckoo, Amy Beach's 'The Year's At The Spring' Chopin's March Waltz- now playing!

10. Lighten Your Wrist and Forget Time

Leave the watch at home. Remember the first time that the Mad March Hare appeared in Alice In Wonderland was at the  mad Hatter's Tea Party, where the hatter had supposedly murdered time.....

Have a last Mad March Day. Yesterday found me marching through a water-logged railway underpass in ankle boots! Hopefully I can find march on to better things this month!
